Did you know ... The only two Boone entries in the National Register of Historical Places are the Jones House and the Boone Post Office. View the actual nomination form for the Jones House entry into the National Register of Historic Places.

In order to maintain, beautify and provide safe access for all, the historic Jones House has undergone recent improvements with more planned for the future. Click on the above pictures to view landscaping plans. Click here for photos of recent improvements such as those shown to the right.

In the early 1980s, the Town of Boone, North Carolina received the wonderful gift of the historic Jones House.
This was made possible by the foresight of Mazie Jean Jones Levenson, daughter of Dr. John Walter Jones and his wife Mattie Blackburn Jones who built the house in 1908. Conscious of the need to preserve the history of Boone,  Miss Mazie has provided Boone with many gifts wrapped up in one: a beautiful turn-of-the century home listed on the National Historic Register, a home for the Watauga Arts Council providing numerous artisans a place to display their talents, a meeting place for community groups, a  repository for historical artifacts from the early days of Boone and Watauga County and a great place for families to visit and enjoy the annual July 4th and Christmas parades the Town of Boone has to offer.
