Update Aug. 2: The Watauga County Arts Council has recently made arrangements to partner with Rich Jacobs of ArtWalk (which is opening directly across the street from the Jones House) to open a temporary branch of the Blue Ridge ArtSpace's retail operation in the ArtWalk facility. We plan to only offer work which has been juried through a two-stage jury process (see attached brochure for details). We are currently accepting applications from artists and would appreciate any help you can offer toward getting the word out. Eligible artists must have at least a part-time residence in Watauga County or in an adjoining county. The deadline for the jury for this early opening will be Tuesday, August 9th at 5pm.  Application in Word Format   Application in PDF Format

Watauga County Arts Council executive director Cherry Johnson accepts a $10,000 check from Jeremy Fisher, market executive of personal and business banking at RBC Centura in Boone. The donation from the bank was the second installment on its $20,000 commitment to the WCAC ArtSpace building in downtown Boone. The new donation is earmarked for construction and architect fees. Johnson stated that the arts council hopes to open ArtSpace during the summer of 2005. The new building will house gallery space, workshop areas, artists’ studio space, a gift shop and other amenities to benefit the arts community of the High Country. Photo above left by Jeff Eason.
