Blue Ridge ArtSpace is a professionally managed, yet fully accessible, arts-focused hub for the entire High Country region. ArtSpace is centrally located at 130 Depot Street in downtown Boone, just steps off of King Street and within walking distance of downtown shops, restaurants, and parking.

The ArtSpace facility includes artists’ studio spaces, workshop rooms, a gallery and retail store, a small kitchen, and a performance and gathering space for both ArtSpace events and community functions.

Update Aug. 2: The Watauga County Arts Council has recently made arrangements to partner with Rich Jacobs of ArtWalk (which is opening directly across the street from the Jones House) to open a temporary branch of the Blue Ridge ArtSpace's retail operation in the ArtWalk facility. We plan to only offer work which has been juried through a two-stage jury process (see attached brochure for details). We are currently accepting applications from artists and would appreciate any help you can offer toward getting the word out. Eligible artists must have at least a part-time residence in Watauga County or in an adjoining county. The deadline for the jury for this early opening will be Tuesday, August 9th at 5pm.  Application in Word Format   Application in PDF Format

Watauga County Arts Council executive director Cherry Johnson accepts a $10,000 check from Jeremy Fisher, market executive of personal and business banking at RBC Centura in Boone. The donation from the bank was the second installment on its $20,000 commitment to the WCAC ArtSpace building in downtown Boone. The new donation is earmarked for construction and architect fees. Johnson stated that the arts council hopes to open ArtSpace during the summer of 2005. The new building will house gallery space, workshop areas, artists’ studio space, a gift shop and other amenities to benefit the arts community of the High Country. Photo above left by Jeff Eason. Ross Chrysler representatives Richard Miller and Randy Ross give a check for $5,200 to Watauga County Arts Council board president Shelby Lane and executive director Cherry Johnson. Ross Chrysler donated $100 for every car sold in June to the WCAC to help make their new ArtSpace in Boone a reality.
